Will we need to have completed one of the campaigns for our characters to take part?

Because it said something like 'this is a time for heroes; heroes who have defeated the Lich, sent Shiro back to the Mists and chained a God'.

I know it's only for max-level characters, but does it have a requirement of completing a campaign?

Shouldn't have to have actually completed it.

No one knows for sure since the game isn't out yet and there is little information about it. Basically wait until that information is out because right now, the only thing you can do is speculate.

Edit: Now on the speculation side, i'll go with Sith.

Since it is an expansion, it won't have a newbie area - so my guess is that while you won't have to have completed any of the chapters, you will need to be at or around 20th level to do well in EotN.

The only thing mentioned thus far was "owning" at least one chapter of the trilogy.

If ANet's design holds true, access to new content will be very much like what is already established: A certain in-game location within each campaign (ie. Lion's Arch, Kaineng City, Kamadan) will act as a portal to the new material. Keep in mind, the new expansion is geared toward level 20's so this may influence where the access point in each campaign area is located.

My guess would be ascended characters only.

Actually completing a campaign sounds very limiting.

All it said, if I remember correctly, was that it was going to be level 20 content-only, so only Heroes need apply.

Basically, it's going to be for high-end characters, there will be no training. That does not infer that you need to complete the game, but who knows between now and the "holiday" season.

Ya, i'd have to go with Onarik. Usually only high-level characters ascend, and as you see with FoW and UW, they can restrict what you do if your ascended or not. Since the ability is already there, I think it is easier for them to determine if your ascended or not.

It's not even that hard or time consuming to get Ascended anyway. Nahpui Quarter is what? The 4th mission in Cantha? Also the Hunted! quest you get after stepping on Kourna. Ascending in Prophecies would take a bit longer though.

Think of this expansion as the SF addition for Prophecies. All you had to do was reach the area to get in but you would have a easier time if you were lv20. Now the titan add on required you to actually finish the game before you could access that part of the storyline since it was a continuation of the story.

I am currently in the Realm of Torment and Raisu Palace portions of Nightfall and Factions, I still am convinced that Prophecies is the most challenging of all the Campaigns. Mainly, I am referring to the time span it takes to get a character from Pre-Sear all the way to Ascension.

Yeah Prophecies Ascension is the hardest IMO.
Thanks for all these answers guys. It pretty much summed up what I was thinking - Ascended lvl 20, but not through a campaign

I feel like going against what everyone else is saying here (not to be argumentative though) just because how it's phrased. The fact that it says you have to have beaten Lich, Shiro, or Abaddon and that "heroes" only need apply hints at least to me that you have to have beaten one of the games. Think about it: you're not truely a hero until you do something truely great (IE. beat Lich, Shiro, or Abaddon). Plus, since GW:EN is meant to tie up the story even more, I think it would make more sense that you need to have beaten the game so you have at least a decent understanding of what the story is about, like the Titan Quests in Prophecies. I wouldn't mind having it so you don't have to have beaten one of the games, but it just looks like you do from the clues I'm getting.

Well, does it say that? Is it a fact?

I don't have the article, if it says:

Then, case closed. I was unaware that information was there. Those words make it fairly apparent what the entry requirement will be for a character to gain access to the content.

It makes sense, now that I consider the fact that the new content is supposed to tie up loose ends from the trilogy's story arc.

It's on the official Guild Wars website: Here is the link. True, it doesn't say flat out "You must have beaten (insert evil villain here) to enter", but it's hinted to very strongly.

There are a few things that lend EoTN to be for characters that have completed a campagin:

Those three things occur in the last missions of each game - therefore it is logical that EoTN takes place after the storylines. Would that mean that characters need to have completed a campaign?

This could be interpreted two ways - heroes who have literally faced Shiro, Abaddon etc. or just for characters from those campaigns.

There are two things that suggest EoTN will be for existing characters (max level characters)

This specifically says existing characters, which probably means all existing characters. Also, it would be a fairly weak expansion that was only for characters that have completed a campaign. There are many level 20's, few of whom have actually finished a campaign.

lol anet, might as well just put in "No Noobs allow!". I rather like the idea that you have to finished at least 1 chapter before you are allow to get to GW:EN.
I mean ascended in GW1 was ace (for the 1st time) and in Factions became closer to the star was good also. But in Nightfall, exterminated bugs and that's it? I mean C'mon!
